Load Entry (by User ID) (Obsolete)
Audience:
Low-code EngineersSkill Prerequisites:
Actions,Forms
Finds the most recent form report entry a user submitted in this form, and reloads the page with it loaded. When the user submits the form again, that entry is updated instead of a new one being created.
This action is only available in Forms.
This action is obsolete. It works with the built-in form reports (the entries saved by Save Report in the Database), which are obsolete too. For new applications, save form data to your own database table and load it back into the form yourself, for example with Run SQL Query.
Typical Use Cases
- Let a user come back and edit their own last submission, such as a profile or an application form
- Maintain existing forms that already rely on form reports
Don't use it to
- Load a specific entry. Use Load Entry (by ID) (Obsolete) instead.
- Load data that isn't stored in form reports. Load it with Run SQL Query instead.
Related Actions
| Action Name | Description |
|---|---|
| Load Entry (by ID) (Obsolete) | Loads a report entry by its key. |
| Save Report in the Database | Saves the form data as a report entry. |
| Run SQL Query | Reads your own data, the recommended replacement. |
How it works
- The action looks up the user from UserId. If no user is found, it uses the current user.
- It finds that user's most recent entry in this form, by submission date. If there's none, the action does nothing and the next actions run.
- If that entry is already loaded in the form, the action also does nothing. This stops the page from redirecting over and over.
- Otherwise, the action redirects to the current page with
?entry=<entry key>added to the URL. The form opens with the entry's values filled in.
Input Parameter Reference
| Parameter | Description | Supports Tokens | Default | Required |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| UserId | The numeric ID of the user whose latest entry is loaded, for example [UserId]. Leave it empty to use the current user. | Yes | empty string | No |
Considerations
- Only numeric user IDs work. The product help text also mentions usernames and email addresses, but in 1.28 the value is read as a number. Any other value falls back to the current user.
- Only this form's entries are searched. Entries the user submitted in other forms are ignored.
- The redirect ends the current run. Put the action last, or after the actions that must run first.
- Use it in button actions. It builds the redirect from the page URL that the form sends when a button is clicked.
- Anonymous users. If the current user isn't logged in and no user ID is given, the action looks for entries that were saved without a user.
