Datasource Refresh

Audience: Low-code Engineers

Skill Prerequisites: Actions, Listings

Reloads the data of the Listing that ran the button, without reloading the page. The current page, search, filters and sorting are kept. Any selected rows are cleared.

Use it as the last action on a Listing button, after actions that change the data the Listing shows.

Typical Use Cases

  • Show the new values after a button updates rows with Run SQL Query
  • Clear the row selection after a root button has processed the selected items
  • Discard pending inline edits and show the saved data again

Don't use it to

  • Refresh a different Listing module. Use Refresh Listing instead.
  • Change the page, filters or sorting. Use Filter Listing instead.
  • Refresh after Datasource Delete. It already refreshes the Listing.
  • Refresh a Listing on a timer. Use the Refresh Data Source setting on the Listing's data source instead.
Action NameDescription
Refresh ListingRefreshes a Listing module that you select.
Filter ListingRefreshes a Listing and changes its sorting, paging or filters.
Datasource DeleteDeletes an entry and refreshes the Listing.
Datasource Inline EditEdits rows inline and reloads the Listing after saving.

Input Parameter Reference

This action has no parameters. Use the action's Condition to control when it runs. See Common Parameters.

Considerations

  • Final action. Actions placed after Datasource Refresh on the same button don't run. Put it last.
  • Listing buttons only. The action tells the Listing in the browser to reload. It works on Listing item and root buttons.
  • Current view is kept. The Listing reloads the page the user is on, with the same search, filters and sorting. If the change removed rows from that page, the page can show fewer rows.
  • Pending inline edits are lost. Rows being edited inline go back to their saved values.
  • Two config files. Besides the Listing module, the InfoBox module also ships a DataSource.Refresh config with the same ID and title. In PAA 1.28 it points to a class that doesn't exist, so the action only works in Listings.

Examples

tip

To understand how to use the below examples, please see Running Examples.

1. Refresh the Listing after closing selected orders

Add this action as the last action of a root button that updates the selected rows. The Listing reloads and the new status is shown.
