Actions,Tokens,Clickatell account
The Clickatell add-on sends text messages (SMS) through the Clickatell gateway. Use its action to send confirmations, codes or alerts to one or more mobile phone numbers from a form, workflow or API endpoint.
The add-on is installed separately as the DnnSharp.Clickatell package, and needs the CLICKATELL feature in your license. If it isn't licensed, the action fails with a "not licensed" error. If you don't see the Send SMS via Clickatell gateway action, the add-on isn't installed. You also need a Clickatell account with an SMS integration that uses the REST API.
Choosing an action
| Action | What it does | Use it to |
|---|---|---|
| Send SMS via Clickatell gateway | Sends one message to one or more phone numbers through your Clickatell account, and can save Clickatell's JSON response in a token. | Send a booking confirmation, or the same reminder to a list of numbers. |
Things to know
- No connector. You pass the Clickatell API key to the action itself. Keep it in a token, for example from a setting, instead of typing it into every action.
- Send only. The action can't receive SMS replies. To receive and reply to SMS, use the Twilio add-on.
- Accepted isn't delivered. A successful response means Clickatell accepted the message. One invalid number can be rejected while the others are sent, so check the response token. Read it with Parse JSON into Tokens.
- Avoid double quotes in the message. They aren't escaped and make the action fail.
For SMS through Twilio, see Twilio. For email, see Email. For all add-ons, see Add-ons.
