FedEx Tracking

Low-code EngineersSkill Prerequisites:
Actions,Tokens,Connectors,FedEx Web Services account
The FedEx Tracking add-on gets the tracking status of FedEx shipments. It adds a Fedex connector type that stores your FedEx Web Services keys and passwords, the Get Fedex Tracking Info action that looks up a shipment, and two actions to manage the connectors.
This add-on is the DnnSharp.FedexTracking package, with product code FDEXTRK. It's installed separately. Get Fedex Tracking Info doesn't check the license when it runs. If you don't see the Fedex Tracking action group or the Fedex connector type, the add-on isn't installed.
The add-on uses the FedEx Web Services (SOAP) API, Track Service version 18. FedEx is retiring the SOAP Web Services and moving customers to its REST APIs, which the add-on doesn't support. When FedEx turns off the SOAP Track Service for your account, Get Fedex Tracking Info stops working. For new work, call the FedEx Track REST API with Server Request instead.
What it adds
| Item | What it does | Use it to |
|---|---|---|
| Fedex connector type | Stores the Account Key, Account Password, Application Key and Application Password of the FedEx Web Services. The passwords are stored encrypted. | Create the connector on the Connectors page, for Get Fedex Tracking Info. |
| Get Fedex Tracking Info | Sends a tracking request to FedEx and returns the reply as tokens. It's in the Fedex Tracking action group. | Show a shipment's status, or save it with an order. |
| Add Fedex Connector | Adds a Fedex connector to a group. | Nothing in apps in 1.28, where it fails. Use Add Connector instead. |
| Update Fedex Connector | Replaces all the details of a Fedex connector. | Nothing in apps in 1.28, where it fails. Use Update Connector instead. |
Things to know
- Web Services credentials. The connector's four values are the
WebAuthenticationDetailvalues of the FedEx Web Services. Account Key and Account Password are only sent when Account Key has a value. See the FedEx documentation for how to get them, and check with FedEx that your account can still use the Web Services. - Test and live servers. With Test Mode checked, Get Fedex Tracking Info sends requests to the FedEx test server. Use the keys that FedEx gave you for that server, and your production keys with Test Mode unchecked.
- FedEx errors are in the reply. When FedEx rejects a request, for example because of wrong keys, the action doesn't fail. The error is in the reply tokens. See Check the reply for errors.
- No connection test. Test Connector doesn't support Fedex connectors. Run Get Fedex Tracking Info in Test Mode to check them.
- Connector actions fail in 1.28. Add Fedex Connector and Update Fedex Connector fail in apps. Create and change Fedex connectors on the Connectors page, or with Add Connector and Update Connector.
For the other connector actions, see Connectors.
