Actions,Connectors,Google Cloud
The Google Cloud add-on adds one action that lets your app call Google APIs, such as Drive, Sheets, Calendar or the Admin SDK, as a Google service account. It gets an OAuth 2.0 access token, which you then send with your own API requests.
This add-on is the PlantAnApp.GoogleCloud package. It's installed separately and needs the GOOGL feature package in your license. If it isn't licensed, the action fails with a not-licensed error. If you don't see the action, the add-on isn't installed.
Choosing an action
| Action | What it does | Use it to |
|---|---|---|
| Get Google Authorization Bearer Token | Gets an access token from Google for a service account, for the scopes you ask for, and saves it in a token. | Read or write a Google Sheet, upload a file to Drive, or create Calendar events. |
How it fits together
- Set up the service account once. Create a service account in the Google Cloud console, download its JSON key, and enable the APIs you need. Add a Google Service Account connector in Plant an App and paste the JSON key into it. See Setting up the connector.
- Get a token. Run Get Google Authorization Bearer Token with the connector and the smallest scopes you need.
- Call the API. Use Server Request with the header
Authorization: Bearer [GoogleToken], whereGoogleTokenis your output token name.
The token usually expires after an hour, and the action gets a new one each time it runs. Run it just before the requests that need it, and keep the token out of logs and pages.
What the service account can see
- On its own, the service account only sees files, sheets and calendars that were shared with its email address.
- With Impersonation, it acts as a Google Workspace user, usually an administrator. A Workspace administrator must first grant the service account domain-wide delegation for the same scopes. Some APIs, such as the Admin SDK Directory API, need this.
- APIs that only take an API key don't need this action. Pass the key in the Server Request instead.
Test Connector doesn't support Google Service Account connectors. Run this action to check the connector instead.
For other connectors, see the Connectors actions. For Server Request, see the Data actions.
