What happens when it runs
The server sends the instruction to the browser right away, and the browser hides the popup. Meanwhile, the server keeps running the remaining actions.
Closing only hides the popup. The page isn't refreshed, and the forms in the popup aren't reset. The next time the popup opens, the forms in its active tab are initialized again.
In Listings
On a listing button with Client Button turned on, use the client-side Close Tabs Popup action instead. It has the same parameter and closes the popup in the browser without a request to the server. See Item Buttons and Root Buttons.
Considerations
- No error if it's already closed. If the popup isn't open, or the Tabs module isn't set to open as a modal, nothing happens.
- Nothing else is refreshed. Listings or forms outside the popup keep what they showed. Add the actions you need after this one to update them.
- Later actions still run on the server. If one of them fails, the popup is already closed. Put the close after the actions that can fail if the user should stay in the popup to fix the problem.
- Not in every form event. This action isn't offered in the form's
On Page Load,On PreinitandOn Initevents. Use Close Tabs Popup And Stop Execution there. See Form Events.
